Beyond Knowing

I asked you a question
and you said, "I DON'T KNOW."
and in your blazing, awake eyes
I saw the abyss—
the return of the mind’s hunger
back to its Source.
We rested there,
trading silent looks of wonder
as the why, why, why
of thought wound down—
settling, resolving,
returning,
resting.
Out of my mind,
there is only presence.
Awareness aware of itself—
just this,
...for the moment.
It feels like a jackpot,
yet the treasure is empty:
empty of thought,
empty of the one I imagined myself to be.
And in that emptiness—
a fullness:
life rich without thinking,
a space without suffering,
without problems or complaints,
open to infinite possibility.
When the mind spins again,
the practice is simple—
do not believe its parade.
Do not follow the glittering storyline:
the “I’ll never…
”or the “they always…”
These thoughts are not me,
and not mine.
Thank you for the reminder:
that we’ll never know.
I don’t know.
And in that unknowing—
Space opens up,
freedom shines forth,
and life unfolds in its mystery.
